Choosing Wedding Photographers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – 6 Crucial Considerations

May 15 By Mary

Do you want to have an awesome pictorial record of your big day? If so, it is crucial that you hire an excellent wedding photographer to do the job! Coming up is a list of items that you should think about when choosing wedding photographers.

  1. Take a critical look at the portfolio
  • Many wedding photographers will be quick to select their best works for you to look at when you come calling. If you notice that this is the case, ask for other albums and DVDs to look through. It is important to view both the photos and the videos so that you can gauge how good the photographer is. You will also get to know if the photographer can work indoors, outdoors, in different environments and with different kinds of lighting.
  1. Get recommendations and reviews
  • Most people remember to ask their friends for recommendations, but they rarely ask for honest reviews. After you get your recommendations, look for reviews from previous clients. If the photographer has a social media page or website, look through and read all the reviews. Also, the photographer should be able to give you phone numbers of referees and satisfied clients for you to call. Lastly, ask when the photographer’s next wedding shoot is so that you can go and see him in action.
  1. Do your personalities click?
  • As you explain your vision for the wedding photos, does the photographer seem to understand what you are talking about? Does he or she take time to listen to you and find out exactly what you want for your wedding? Are there any signs of impatience in the conversation? If you are not able to understand one another, maybe it is best to get someone who comprehends and shares your vision, rather than having someone who will not give you what you want.
  1. Hire a professional
  • Not all wedding photographers are professionals. Being a professional is not just about taking photos and delivering the finished product. The photographer should be able to commit to site visits, scheduled meetings, advise on lighting and venue, and be prepared for any mishaps. Most importantly, there should be clear lines of communication between you, and everything you agree on should be put down on paper. If the photographer already has a booking on the date set for your wedding, he should say so.
  1. What is the Price tag?
  • Before you go searching for a wedding photographer, make a tentative budget. Come up with a rough figure by asking friends and family who have held weddings what they paid for the same service. That way, when you receive a quote, you will know whether it is reasonably priced. Also, find out what payment plan the photographer offers, what the package covers, and whether everything will be put in writing (receipts, invoices, etc.).
  1. How about the package?
  • Every wedding photographer should have a list of items that he or she provides as part of the service. These include a certain number of stills, DVDs, framed photos, albums, slideshows, etc. Before you sign on the dotted line, go through the package carefully to see what it contains. Also, ask the photographer what happens if there is a delay in delivery of the completed package. Be sure to tell the photographer exactly what you want him to deliver before you make a final agreement.

Wedding photographers to capture your big day may be easy to come by, but getting one who will do a great job will require that you do your homework. Most importantly, choose one with whom you have a great working relationship. Good luck!
